BLU-U Photodynamic Therapy
What is it? BLU-U Photodynamic Therapy is a type of blue light therapy. It is a non-invasive treatment option that uses specific wavelengths of light to treat skin conditions, such as certain types of skin cancer and precancerous lesions (actinic keratosis).
The therapy process:
Waiting Period
Blue Light Exposure
Skin Flaking and Renewal
The medication is allowed to absorb into the skin for a length of time, usually 1 to 1.5 hours.
Blue light is directed on the treated area for about 15 minutes, targeting the cells that absorbed the medication.
The damaged cells are killed and flake off over the next few days, revealing healthier skin beneath.
Medication Application
A special medication, called Levulan, is applied to the skin., This medication makes cancerous or damaged cells sensitive to light.
Aftercare: You will need to avoid exposing the treated skin to sunlight for at least four days following the procedure. It is normal to experience redness, a pinching sensation, or even small blisters as part of the healing process.

Most people need two or three treatment sessions spaced four to six weeks apart for best results.
